Heep play by candlelight!
Actually by torchlight.
The lights failed in the first song but the guys kept on going as
flashlights were shone on them so they could see what they were doing. A
problem? NO WAY......They laughed and continued. Someone put some money
in the meter and we were back up and running.
White Noise by the way were a real treat.....very good as support.
The Academy at Birmingham was an intimate venue with a smaller stage
than I have ever been used to with Heep but what a good gig.
Plenty of surprises and a huge variety of different songs.
The band were tight as hell.
Lee smiling, superb and hugely enjoying himself.
Phil, the same AND interacting with the audience too.
Mick was the usual lovable presence.
Trevor looked very tired but played superbly. (best I've seen)
Bernie.........Mr Shaw....very cool. Spot on note hitting AND chatting
with the audience.Very relaxed and just having a great time. Very
natural and his humour and sense of fun was apparent....In control of
the audience I think. Well done. I smiled a lot.
Highlights......Love in Silence, Rainbow Demon,Other Side Of
Midnight,July Morning (very well played).
All in all, one of THE best Heep gigs I have ever been to.
Very slick.Jim
